Lavington neighborhood is adding new coffee places consistently and now provides a strong range of options for the coffee lover, from the grab and go to the chill in a garden oasis. Lavington is more leafy than Kilimani and less intense than Kilimani or Westlands. Of course there are the big guys - Art Cafe, Java and the new CJ's at the Shell on the roundabout. However, at FMC254 we are here to help you find the smaller and artisan coffee shops. Pallet offers the garden oasis, Hikuri the cool chic espresso bar feel, and in between there is Jowam, Spring Valley and Coffee Garden to name a few. Let's give you a bit more information on 5 of our current favourites:

FMC254 Current top 5 are:

1. Hikuri, James Gitchuru.

FMC254 visits here regularly - a very small, chic espresso bar type place. Amazing flat white. Options for working on window shelf seating or sofa and lounge around or a small table seat for a group chat. a few outside seats in a secure area too. This is an intimate place super friendly team and they love their coffee. Always happy to advise and guide if required. Check out the display shelves too the coffee kit on there are works of art! Doughnuts - are too tempting and again the best i have had for a while. See you there.

2. Jowam - Lavington Mall.

Visited for the first time June 2025. A lovely small intimate place at Lavington Mall and a very different ambiance to Art Cafe and Sirwo that are also here. The flat white i had was perfect. Jowam are coffee gurus. They roast their own coffee in the cafe as well as commercially. Jowam also offer barista training so if you have always fancied a go at that these guys are a great option!

3. Karak & Go, James Gichuru

FMC254 visited Karak last 27/8/2025 this is a small shop venue with 2 "inside tables" and a couple of outside ones. Great coffee and service and as the name says great for coffee on the go (easy parking) or a short stop for a quick caffeine fix. Also a great option for matcha enthusiasts, combined with a very welcoming atmosphere, ensures a visit that is both enjoyable and memorable.

4. Spring Valley Coffee, Lavington Business Hub (opposite Lavington Mall)

Spring Valley Cafe's will always be on any best of area list. They are consistent with their coffee quality, welcoming staff and great ambience of the cafe. This one is tucked away in a small complex opposite Lavington Mall, inside is a great place to chill. The outside seating is a bit "in the car park" but ok if you dont mind that and jsut want fresh air. But the windows and doors are large and always open on good days so the inside feels outside anyway.

5. Pallet Cafe, James Gichuru.

Pallet Cafe Nairobi is a garden cafe in Lavington, Nairobi. The cafe was born out of the vision to provide great food and amazing service while promoting the training and employment of the disabled in the food service community. Come learn a few sign-language hand signs, relax, enjoy some delicious food and have fun. This is an awesome garden cafe oasis hidden away from the bustle of Lavington and FMC254 love the concept of supporting those with hearing difficulties and also raising awareness and understanding of the deaf community. Give them a try. Also if you are on the coast at Diani, they have a sister cafe at Galu Beach, coast cafe blog is coming in November but for now click the button below for Pallet Diani details -
